tela, honduras - central america
Caribbean Beach Retreat.
description
Jorge approached the design reinventing the vernacular island style, combining fiber cement umbrella roof over flat roof and veranda, opening all the living spaces towards the shoreline of Tela’s beach in Honduras, and using a primary colors palette.
This idyllic yet playful seaside home is supported by exterior independent concrete columns. The exterior walls were built with two layers of concrete blocks with Styrofoam between them to provide better insulation.
All spaces are split between the two blocks that form the base layer of the building connected with the staircase tower by aerial bridges.
One of the premises was to open all social areas and the guest room to the large terrace and pool to view and enjoy the beautiful sunsets on the ocean.
The structure was designed to stand the extreme weather conditions of the area.
